Personally I'm with Harv on chain replacement. Fine to do it yourself if you're an experienced home mechanic who's done it plenty of times, but remember your life is literally hanging on that...

Mine too. Slacken the screw handle right off before you use the stand. Push the stub-shaft fully home, then tighten the screw handle.

Try that before you go buying another stand.
