Bought a 2610 as an upgrade from a Streetpilot. No issues at all. Top gear from Garmin. Will consider an upgrade next year too.

Are you sure you've got a rear base oil leak. It's far more likely, especially as it's been overfilled, that the oil is coming from the breather that's right next to the rear pot.

Spaghettis are around for 888s but they do take some searching out. A new one from Termi can be had for about £1800 to £2000 and by the time you've paid £1400 and P&P then modded the monster...

Not 100% sure why you'd need to replace the bobbins unless they where actually worn. Shouldn't affect brake feel (e.g. Pad knock off/back) unless something else is off. maybe wheel slighty off...

Once the epoxy/carbon has reacted (gone off) you can't soften it with heat. All you do is burn the epoxy and char the carbon. That assumes it's good stuff.
