As topitoo advised . Used to allways carry a set as a despatch rider. Allways worked and got me out of trouble. Just take your time when using them (if you do) So the rubber vulcanises properly.

Thanks for that . I'm doing other bits and pieces at the mo between weekends, but as soon as autumn is here the bikes being stripped and done. Still welcome others experiances.

I've had to replace the sprung plate as that had flattened out. The metal plate wit a dot stamped into it. Should be dished in shape.

I had that once. Never replaced the tank because it only happened the once and never found exactly where the coolant leaked from(may have just been the cap). never happened since. this was 2 years...

Over 20k and i've had 2. One at 6k and one more at 18K.
With warming up and more frequent oil changes. I know it should not happen but i think i have been quite lucky compared to some.

The 996 with race pipes was 110db at the ring (needed repacking thou)

With lead acid batteries the manufacturer can engineer a limited life into it. I would think that they can do the same with gel batteries some how.

Or make a tap with anbolt the same thread, cut some longitudional slots in the thread, to cut the paint away. Have got out of trouble by this method myself in the past.
