Cos your bike is still air-cooled to some extent and relies on the passage of air through it from front to rear. The rear will run hotter cos it gets less flow of air across it and what it does get...

Check here (http://www.section8superbike.com/shockspring.php) for the spring rates you need. Generally a soft rear spring does not cause the rear to step out. Too much preload, too much spring rate...

I think I understand what Dom is saying wrt DD but, make no mistake, Supercorsa Pros are pukka race rubber and light years ahead in terms of grip. They're probably worse 2-3 seconds per lap easily.

Ordered some lightweight sprockets for the race bike at 4pm on Friday - they arrived today. Very reasonably priced too... £18 for each rear. 2 rears together weigh less than a single oem sprocket!...

Yep. They are crap. I have similar issues with the Datatools on my road-going 800ss and on my Triumph. They don't like water - you might want to check the gasket sealing the alarm case. They can fail.
