How about doing all of the above but NOT realising why it happened, shouting at your pillion ( Hells ) to help you pick the bike up... saying " Just get on the back and lets get out of here " ( which she duly does ) ..... and then doing the exact same bloody thing all over again, only pitching two people onto the floor and then FINALLY realising what the problem was !!!

My only saving grace was that the majority of the people sitting along the beach that balmy summers evening were foreign students and I was never likely to see them ever again !

it has to be when i picked up my cbr6 from the shop.

This was the first proper bike I had, ascending from a gsx250, so I was well aware to expect a bit more on the power delivery. But....
The mechanic had done the pdi and parked the bike outside the shop pointing across the road. He went over the controls and I signed the release form. There were 4 employees from the shop, a few customers had also gathered along with my g/f to watch my first steps.

The plan was to take it for a spin round the block before g/f got on the back to go home. Still aware of a much stronger engine than I was used to, I wind on a tiny bit of throttle and gently feed in some clutch. Result? Bike goes forward quicker than I could believe possible, straight into the opposite kerb chucking me unceremoniously on the floor as if to say "what's an amateur like you doing buying something like me?!"

Didn't go back there for a while!

I was reading these posts and thinking 'Gosh, I'm glad nothing like that has happened to me' when a long suppressed memory came back to the surface:

My very first bike - brand new Hon... Hon... Viffr - took it for a ride to run it in. Got to Bournmouth and decided to stop for an ice cream. Attached the brand new disk lock for the very first time... with the lock barrel facing in rather than out with insufficient space to get the key in to unlock it again.

Going through a shop window in Bournemouth.

Was 16, just got my AR and thought i was king, self taught gear change etc.

Mate had an RGV250 who i badgered to let me have a go, now if anyone has ever ridden an AR will tell u, it's gutless as a gutted fish in gutlessfield. So with this in mind, I opened the throttle hard, dumped the clutch.

I went about 100 feet on 1 wheel legs and me along for the ride, and ended up going through Moss Bross window in Westover Road in Bournemouth. Was in the pavilion car park (Dave).

I legged it, my mate copped for it by the bizzies. All for a friggin Girl!

1 - fell off 250 in college car park when wheelie went awry as the back wheel hit the ver ver slippy metal runners for the gate.

2 - on way back from B'Ol, two gendarmes with hands on their weapons (hahahaha) waved me over. Me, fully luggaged up on 600 pantah, duly obliges, pulls over, down to <5mph, thought I'd just pull it over the kerb but the back wheel didn't make it. There was I lay prone on floor overlooked by two weapon wielding gendarmes. Taught them a few new english swear words.

Not to do with bikes:

2x nights ago on Monday evening, the Indian take away that I had ordered in for a lady friend and I took 90 mins to arrive and on opening her up was found to be stone cold.

I jumped in the car, (2 beers down not something I should have done), and drove the 1 mile to the restaurant, where I proceeded to berate them, (and did I rant!)- 20 seconds after my tirade I then realised I was in the wrong restaurant.

Jes's did I feel a fool, as was confirmed to my by the 3x families eating in there at the time!

Humble pie was eaten there and then.

Riding into the centre arena at the BMF to take part in a jousting contest (I was the pillion) when bike stops. Rider panics and after attemos to both kickstart 9This was many years ago) and even bump start pushes bike out of arena to the jeers of the crowd. On checking bike over rider discovers petrol tap in OFF position
