Is USB enabled in the BIOS?

To check, press DEL whilst the computer is booting up to get into the BIOS menu. Go through the BIOS fields until you find enable USB.

the usb supplied on the cd should work fine.

No personal experience here but I read somewhere about the same prob with the 616 driver. This was the solution:

Assuming you've got admin rights to the laptop...
there should be an uninstall option on the disc, try uninstall then reinstall.
Simple as that. If it don't work then sorry, that's all I've got!
