I'm a PADI open water diver just about to emigrate to Palm Cove (just north of Cairns), so within paddling distance of GBR.
I'm currently in Plymouth where there is a flourishing diving scene, mainly due to the recently sunk HMS Scylla which is intended to become an artificial reef. There are a great many wrecks to dive down here and a number of dive centres (try Looe Divers - dont worry , they don't do sewer diving!!).
Beware - water is cold so you will be diving in a dry-suit, and visibility is distinctly variable so you have to have a bit of luck |
