Mind you, had an awesome race with a VERY willing TVR Griffin driver back in 1997, when I was on my old YZF 750... He was well up for it and we stayed close pretty much all the way !

( but it was only to a maximum of 80 mph officer :P ahem )

Just wondered if anyone had suffered from idiotic bike riders trying to prove something to themselves?

an alfa driver saw me in his mirror, dropped a cog and burnt off hoping i would give chase, i didnt bother, couple of miles on and he had caught a couple of slower moving cars, i went to overtake all three and as i got alongside the alfa he swerved into me missing my bike/left leg by inches, i carried on for a mile or so and found a spot to pull over, took my lid off and waited for the alfa, i gestered for him to pull in and have a "chat" but he kept going. Dont know why some car drivers have it in for us, maybe its cause they would like a bike but aint got the balls to ride one, or maybe their "her indoors" wont let them have one, i dunno, but i think its best to not get sucked into a race with anyone really, its a recipie for disaster.

Point taken mate... had a guy on a GSX some years back riding in Chino trousers REALLY trying to make a point around town.. his riding was appalling and it really took the biscuit when he chopped the nose of a car off going round a round-a-bout... the bike was back firing like a pig... he was simply dangerous..

I'll admit to riding faster than the law dictates ( as we all do ) but there is a time and place etc etc

Ooh yes!Loads of times!
How annoying is it when you catch up with another rider on your fave bit of tarmac, they see you coming in the mirror then ride faster,so its difficult to pass. They them proceed to get in your way round the twisties!
I once caught up with a guy on an Aprillia 250.He saw me coming, dropped it down a gear and speeded up.The guy was obviously riding beyond his capabilities and run wide about 4 corners later. He was lucky there was'nt anything coming the other way.The next left hander he ran wide again, this time running over the verge on the opposite side of the road.He went down, but fortunately for him,the bike only suffered minor damage and him a bruised ego.

Thats got to be the most sensible advice here. There is only one place you should contemplate racing,.........the A47!...ooops I meant a racetrack!
