Well there goes another 3 points...

I've always tended to take the view that there's no excuse being done by speed cameras: you should be able to see them coming, etc etc.

But dang me if a nice bill from Gwent Heddlu hasn't popped onto my mat.

And I had no idea.

That damned A40 again. Lllangattock Lodge, near Penpergwm, Abergavenny, apparently. Wherever that is.
85 in a 70.
In a 70, does that mean a dual-carriageway?

Anyway, that's twice in the last couple of years I've been done in S. Wales, it's getting out of hand. But it's so beautiful around there, and far and way the best biking roads within reasonable reach.

Maybe further up into mid-Wales is more lightly policed? Seems that the Abergavenny/Brecon area is getting a bit saturated now.

What's other posters' experience in Wales?

127 mph on the A40 past Ross on Wye in a Lancia Delta Integrale

A real ticking off by the SW police who got me on Vascar. They did agree I was only a danger to myself as there was no-one at all about.

Only 3 penalty points but a trip to Abergaveny magistrates court was required due to reaching the magic 12 points.

At court the JP noticed all my points were for speeding - he actually laughed, wagged his finger and said 'you're just going to have to slow down young man' = £200 fine and a let off from the ban as I pleaded poverty because a ban would mean losing my job.

btw - this was 1984 when everything seemed so much lighter & easier and you always had a chance to plead your case.

Wouldn't happen now though

I read your post and it says to me,

"I speed most of the time im out in Wales, but slow down if i see the potential of being prosecuted for it. though my observation skills are not as good as i thought they were." "I think ill have to look elsewhere to speed."

I don't expect there's too many on the board who never exceed a speed limit, but yes, andyb, I guess you're broadly right.
I expect most people who are done for speeding, whether by a Gatso, hidden police car/van, or whatever other method, think to themselves, I should have spotted it.

Anyway, thanks for your kind thoughts.
