I agree with all comments about gravel, lost the front on the Multistrada last night on a deep patch of gravel over a small bridge. You know the type a 90 degree right onto the bridge followed by a 90 left coming of the bridge. My friend in front totally missed the gravel (he never even saw it) I never saw it and went into it as I was still turning right slightly the front just went from under me. Luckily I got my right foot down and the front tyre just kissed the wall on the left hand side of the bridge which somehow kept me from dropping the bike! Unfortunatly the action of stamping my right foot down meant it then got dragged behind me scraping a hole in the toe of my Sidi black rain. Small price to pay I suppose could have easily been a big bill for plastics etc or even worse. There was a little layby at the other side of the bridge where I ended up still hanging off the side of the bike. My mate in front of me said he looked in his mirrors and thought I was stopping for a fag? It must be accepted practice that when stopping for a smoke you hang of the right sided of the bike with your foot trailing on the ground by the back wheel! Seriously though I echo the above sentiments to all take care, theres always all sorts of things to catch you out. |
