If the cambelt went wouldn't the symptoms be much more dramatic? Like the head on that cylinder lunching itself?

Ditto...don't wasye your time mate...just give Ducati Aylesbury SERVICE dept a call, and get them to come and pick it up and sort it out.

In the past DA have had a bit of a love/hate relationship with some of the members of this board, but with their new service team we have been told of improved service on all counts (actually on this very board by the service guy himself!).

Time to put those words to the test!

Not always Tony, they will run with a broken belt but obviously only on one cylinder! A classic symptom is a strong petrol smell as the injectors keep pumping fuel in but its not being burnt.
All that will happen really is the piston will keep going up and down and once its battered its way past any open valves either by bending the valve, breaking the rocker or whatever then it'll carry on running (on one pot).

Take it back to Aylesbury Ducati.
It should have been serviced before you got it and the filters done to be fair but if its been stood a while the bad fuel can leave like a residue on the inside of the tank, this breaks down with the new petrol and then finds its way to the filter housing and filter so causing a problem similar to the one you describe.

Ring Nelly at Cornerspeed for any advice ;o)

would it not be something simplew like a fouled spark plug.

i had a similair problem when runign my 853 in before my silverstone trackday and it was the front cylinder spark plug that was fll of fuel. try that for a cheaper and easier option

Well that's coz you got a red one, andy - too feeble to take out in the cold!

Anyway thanks for all your advice guys. Will try cleaning up the obvious and if not back to Aylesbury it goes. 6 month warranty up soon anyway. Also have a minor cluth leak so think I'll start me a list.

Also, why does Nelly have to be so far away as he seems to be the chosen one.........

count yourself lucky djb,my nearest decent place for a service is 140,iles away.

have you checked the spark plug yet ?? only a fiver to replace if its the problem

okay you win! mind you seems to be a shortage of decent guys around London - anyone any recommendations?

Gonna have to wait till after Christmas to investigate - too much work too little play. Will try plugs first, fuel filter next and then Aylesbury customer service when I've admitted defeat....

Mine did this once. Swopped plug for a new one. Then ran fine.
