TT 2006

Have suddenly had thought of going there for the 2006 TT as I doubt it wil be on for many years if the rumours are to be believed.

So a few questions:

1. Best places to stay - there would be 10 of us with probably 5 bikes and a van.

2. I assume steam packet is the only way to go?

3. Best places to watch?

Thanks!

Finding decent accommodation is difficult as many people book from one year to another. Check homestead list from tourist board, p.s. book now.

Steam Packet is only way, either from Liverpool or Heysham.

Many excellent viewpoints,e.g. bottom of Bray hill, 11th. milestone, Kirkmichael, Union mills, and Crosby.

Yep,and add to that, many hotels and B&B's have been pulled down and/or converted into luxury apartments for the rich and famous.
For homestays look here;

I think you will be struggling to keep all your mates together tho.If you can, stay in Douglas,...its where all the action is at night.Ramsey and Port Errin are lovely places,...but absolutely dead at night. If you do take accomodation out of town you'll find the taxi's can be quite expensive and you might need to book in advance.(We dont want to be drunk and riding now,...do we!)
Yep,Steam Racket is the only way to get there.Again, you need to be booking NOW!
As for viewing, there are some great places. The usual places are good,...The Gooseneck and Bungalow on the mountain,Bradden Bridge,Glen Helen,Crosby,Creg ny Ba,...to name a few.
Alternative viewing areas are;Parliament Sq.in the petrol station forecourt. You can see the bikes flick through the square then up the hill.Added benefits are a gap in the nearby pub wall for drink/food supplies and you can walk around the back streets,go over the bridge near the bus station and watch from the other side.
Keppel Gate is another good place.A series of fast bends just before the drop down to the Creg.Plenty of room here to mooch about for differant views.
Hillberry is an incredably fast section, the speed the bikes are doing here is breathtaking,..........I could go on,..........
Still a great place to go,despite the safety police, have fun.

we went this year and had a great time, we went on the ferry and came back on the CAT, CAT for all future crossings, we camped near Greeba, cost very little and used the excellent bus service to go into Douglas at night, Taxis were certainly no more expensive than here. we viewed at several plaes but especially liked Braddan bridge, for the view and the WI run burger van with homemade cake. You have to see them go by the start/finish and the bottom of Bray Hill. If the waether is ok we will go to the Bugalow for a least one day.

We will go again in 2007.

May go this coming year if I can find the time and money, If I get the chance I usually view from Union Mills where we stay, otherwise its more than likely I'll be on the pit wall. I may even do a bit of marshalling from the mountain Box as I was supposed to do it in 2004 but Adrian crashing my bike in the Lightweight scuppered those plans.
I will try and see what accomidation my friends over there can come up with.
As you say time may be running out for the TT so if you can't make it this year book now for 2007, the party should be the best for quite a while then it could be down hill from there.
