I originally intended to send this just to the riders via email but as it is a topical issue and receiving posts from non DD riders and non DSC members thought it best posted here.
For the benefit of those new to the forum the Desmo Due series is run by the club for its members, the rounds are primarily hosted by New Era, one of the UK bike racing clubs.
So it is a club series run at club level with the intention of allowing newcomers to experience racing on a reasonable budget. It isn't on a level with BSB, WSB or GP.
The series is run by a race committee who try to organise it in such a way that it benefits not just the riders but the club in general. To maintain the series in years to come we need to attract new riders and club members. To achieve this we need to raise the profile of the series by getting some press exposure, that's my job as PR person. Last year we had some guest riders from magazines riding at some rounds. We had some features in magazines and MCN as a result of this. This year we are running two grids rather than one due to increased interest.
International sponsors gain very little in real terms from being involved with the series, bear with me here and lets try and look at the bigger picture.
We (the MT/RC) have developed relationships with various big named sponsors over the years, not just for the DD series but DSC activities in general. Whether they bring us thousands of pounds in actual value or just a couple of baseball caps to give out at meetings is largely irrelevant. .
What they give freely to us is increased credibility
I can use this in my efforts to promote the series, not for the benefit of any individual but the common good of those involved now and to secure the future of the series.
None of us has the time to answer every question posed here on the message board but ALL questions put to the relevant MT/RC email address will be answered. Bear in mind that time takem on protracted message board posting is time we can't spend profitably in other areas.
By continually criticising what we have tried to achieve in open, public forum you make our job increasingly difficult and our series far less attractive to potential new and existing sponsors.
Please consider carefully whether your postings are really doing the club, the series or in some cases your own credibility any favours before dashing off a tirade of abuse.
You cannot accuse me of hiding anything, as previously stated I will answer all emails, if I need to find information to reply it may take more that five minutes at times but you'll appreciate that like most I have a job/family/other life to deal with as well.
