750SSie side stand switch problem?

Any ideas before I pack my SS off in a van to be repaired....?

I have been having intermittent problems when switching on - sometimes the fuel pump primes, other times it is dead, apart from the tiny sound of a clicking solenoid (I presume). I have replaced the side stand switch, which seemed to solve the problem for a few weeks, but now it has returned, the sun is shining, and my bike is immobile!

Is it just a case of junking/bypassing the switch, or could it be more serious?

All suggestions appreciated....

could be one of the ignition relays, one of which controls the pump. They are located under the tank next to the battery. The sidestand switch is a part of this circuit so replacing/disturbing the wiring could have "moved" something.
Check all the connectors to for signs of muck or corrosion.

Yeah,I have to agree with nelly on this one.Its more likely to be the side stand cutout relay.They are a stupid little thing that can render a bike imobile.My wifes Monster has had two replaced in two years.We now keep a spare under the seat.

I had a look - I assume you mean the two rectangular 5 pin 'plugs'. They look identical, so I swapped them round, and the bike fired up, so one of them is gone. They are marked as Siemens items, so are they off the shelf things for cars/bikes, or are they specialist?

Probably available as "standard" parts..........maybe Halfords??
If not, your local dealer should have them

Yep,thats the one.There are some very similar relays in the RS catalogue but they are no cheaper than the Ducati items.Expect to pay around a fiver at your local dealer.
