Smaller pics make pages load quicker - generally enhancing the 'user experience'.

But, you can put thumbnails on the pages that load with bigger pics 'behind' them so that you can get a large image when you click on the thumbnail. The best compromise methinks ...

You missed the most popular out - 800 x 600 !!!

Most screens these days work on 1024 x 768, so using a picture of these dimensions doesn't allow for any framing around the edges (i.e the space for titles, logos, menus etc.). 640x480 is a good size for the average picture (like the one on the DSC homepage), but for a main feature go to 800x600. Don't put more than one on a page though otherwise (as TP says) it slows everything down.

1600x1200 is only for the elitists with big monitors

Dumbo alert!!!

How do you actually get a pic from your pics to a posting?

Yes i know you're all laughing but i've only just discovered digital photography and computers in general are a mystery to me, even basic stuff.

Thanks in advance.

well rattler gets one of his staff to do it .. whilst he sits there in a velvet smoking jacket dictating his PMs ......

BDG, when you put a post up there is an option to add an attachment, use the browse button next to the white box and go and select the picture from wherever it is stored .... that will then put the path into the white box .. hit "post" and Geraldine is your mums uncles sisters ex wife whilst bobs yer uncle .....

Failing that we can all put our fax numbers up and you can do it the traditional way ....
