Has anyone had experience of Ignition control Units failing repeadedly? My 600 ss fried one when I fired it up just after i bought it. I have replaced it and then the other one has just gone dead whilst warming the bike up. It didnt fry, just went dead.
Anyone know what causes this? It is becoming an expensive habit!
Thanks. Did the bike settle down after you had replaced both units, or did you have to change anything else? Obviously I want to avoid blowing another one!
Word is that once one goes, the other follows soon after.
If you can't source 2nd hand ones, the DP catalog lists one for the 900 that works fine and are only (?!) about £200 the pair compared to £200 each for the originals............... (the ones listed for the 600/750 are no longer available)
I had no other problems since the units where changed although I found the bike happier with a new battery, since then some blind tw@ knocked me off and wrote off the bike, insurance would not sell me the salvage so I bought another 600ss and swapped all the good bits over B4 they took it away. so my bruises have gone and i'm back on a Duke
This happened to Ruth's M600. One went and the other followed after about 30 mins or trying to get home . Got a second hand pair for £160 from the back of MCN.
Fingers crossed its been ok for a year now - Bugger Thats the kiss of death isnt it?
