Virus problem.

Today I got a message alert from windows telling me my pc was infected. I got McAfee software to detect and delete the buggers, 4 in all. The problem now is that even though the files have been deleted or cleaned, windows are still telling me my pc is infected. Ican't stop the bugger from popping up every couple of mins and my desk top is now one huge message alert with info on where to get the correct software.
Help me please

Mood: I want to come home ::(:but then
I use "Stop" It's internet based, so does'nt take all day loading and updates itself when ever I'm on the internet. If you go to this website http://www.eacceleration.com/ I think you get a free scan. Touch wood I've never had a virus since

There are various packages you can sign-up for and there are lots of freebies that come with it.

Do you have System restore on ? (assuming your running XP ) If so you probably have the virus saved to a restore point hence your AV still says your infected . Turn system restore off and windows will delete all saved restore points deleting the virus so no more alerts . Then turn system restore back on if you use it and things should be sorted .

Hmmm , is it your AntiVirus thats popping up the message or Windows itself ? If its Windows you probably have messenger enabled . (Transmits net send and Alerter service messages between clients and servers. This service is not related to Windows Messenger. If this service is stopped, Alerter messages will not be transmitted. )

Go start/control panel/Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools/Services and scroll down until you find messenger , right click select properties and change startup type to disabled , click ok then restart your comp
