bugger

hello from hospital!i 'got' pneumonia about 5 weeks ago, went through 3 different courses of anti-biotics and a course of steriods and recovered after 3 weeks.
anyway started hacking up blood on thursday and being short of breath.went to gp on friday morning,he examines me,and calls an ambulance!apparently my lungs were so weak,my heart was overcompensating, and i was at risk of cardiac arrest blues and twos' to a & e,lots of tests involving large needles,i get addmited for 5 days,on oxygen all the time, and fluids and anti-biotics through an iv.feel fine which is the odd thing.
i think i might feel better if someone gave me their 999r,go on,you know you want tobye for now,a nurse wants to give me a bedbath

Got released from hospital on NYE at 6pm.This is after 16 days in hospital!I apparently contracted a rare bacterial pneumonia,2/3 people out of 12 apparently don't ever recover, and end up 6ft. under
Unfortunately the infection has spread to my heart, which is causing it to beat at about 115bpm,which means i'm on about 6 types of medication 4 times a day!My consultant tells me that with drug treatment 75% of people make a full recovery within a year,i'm trying not too think about the other 25%!
They did'nt want to release me for another couple of days due to a couple of adverse reactions to needles, but after 16 days i was climbing the walls and threatening to discharge myself, probably not the sensible thing to do,but i did'nt see the point in being there when i could do exactly the same at home.
The needle infections have cleared up in the time i've been home(24hrs.),whereas they were taking 4/5 days in hospital, same can be said for the Adema?(water retention).
Had some interesting tests done including CT scan,Camera down the throat and an ultrasound.
The worst thing was not feeling unwell for the last week,it affects you more mentally than physically, especially being surrounded by 'properly sick' people when i turfed out of my private room for the last 3 days.
Looks like minmum of two more weeks off work, although i expect the doctors will suggest longer.I'm 32,slightly overweight and it's the first time i've been ill,i don't drink often or smoke at all.Just wanted to get it off my chest (no pun intended).
Hope everybody else had a better Xmas and New Year,i'll be living life to the full,Once the docs give me the all clear(fingers crossed).

Just get yourself better mate-know what you mean about climbing the walls though. When I was 17 got knocked of my bike, badly smashed left leg just above the ankle(they wanted to amputate it-this was in 1965!) I was in hospital for 5 weeks, healthy and fit as a butchers dog, just smashed up. When they finally let me out of bed and into a wheelchair I broke 3 in 2 days-they had me on crutches and home VERY quickly..........

Glad to hear that your out, un-healthy places hospitals you can catch some right nasty stuff.

When you were in were you allowed to use a laptop with internet access ? Just wondering as ive often thought that I could cope with the utter boredom as long as I had my laptop.
