Got released from hospital on NYE at 6pm.This is after 16 days in hospital!I apparently contracted a rare bacterial pneumonia,2/3 people out of 12 apparently don't ever recover, and end up 6ft. under

Unfortunately the infection has spread to my heart, which is causing it to beat at about 115bpm,which means i'm on about 6 types of medication 4 times a day!My consultant tells me that with drug treatment 75% of people make a full recovery within a year,i'm trying not too think about the other 25%!
They did'nt want to release me for another couple of days due to a couple of adverse reactions to needles, but after 16 days i was climbing the walls and threatening to discharge myself, probably not the sensible thing to do,but i did'nt see the point in being there when i could do exactly the same at home.
The needle infections have cleared up in the time i've been home(24hrs.),whereas they were taking 4/5 days in hospital, same can be said for the Adema?(water retention).
Had some interesting tests done including CT scan,Camera down the throat and an ultrasound.
The worst thing was not feeling unwell for the last week,it affects you more mentally than physically, especially being surrounded by 'properly sick' people when i turfed out of my private room for the last 3 days.
Looks like minmum of two more weeks off work, although i expect the doctors will suggest longer.I'm 32,slightly overweight and it's the first time i've been ill,i don't drink often or smoke at all.Just wanted to get it off my chest (no pun intended).
Hope everybody else had a better Xmas and New Year,i'll be living life to the full,Once the docs give me the all clear(fingers crossed).
