Am I the First Sucker of 2006 ?

In a conversation (you guessed it ... in a pub) over Christmas a friend mentioned that there had been a recent development in crash helmet technology. The development projected an image of what was behind you onto you your visor by way of a

series of periscope type mirrors

running through the helmet.

Am I the first (and probably biggest) sucker of 2006 or has anyone else heard of this ? I suspect I was the unwitting recipient of the first wind up of the year. If such a device exists does anyone have any details - manufacturer, cost, distributor, experience of using one, etc, etc.

If this is pure fantasy then please ignore this thread and I will skulk off into obscurity for being so easily taken in !!

It exists, no idea if it's the same one, but I've seen some photo's of it ages ago now, didn't look fantastic but it worked I guess

It's not a projection as such as far as I'm aware, it's just a series of mirrors that allow you to look up and behind yourself from the top of your visor, there was a concept picture in MCN a while back.

I'm told that a major uk lid distributor tested it and threw it out.
Don't know if anyone else has taken it on tho??

It was called revu and it made me feel sick when I tried it....total pants

thats the one Berto, was around about 18 months ago at the 04 NEC bike show, they had 3 or 4 lids that they were letting visitors try ... very distracting ... but I guess you'd get used to it ....

Only after running into folk cos you had to take your eyes off where you were going....Head up display would be good laugh though

I had seen it before on a bicycle helmet, it is called Reevu. Here is a pic of the m/cycle helmet.

I tried one at Ally Pally last year - I found it even less useful than the mirrors on a 749....
