High idle while riding and...

Hi peeps. my idle is really high when Im riding, if I pull the clutch in, the revs hover between 3000-4000rpms... quite hard for driving around town and you look like a dick revving the nuts off it!
WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT?

Make sure the choke plunger is returning when the choke lever is put back to the off position.

If you look on the right hand side of the bike under the petrol tank you will see the choke mechanism, follow the choke cable.

Rotate the choke lever a couple of times and see if the mechanism is moving and returning correctly.

Failing that an air leak can cause a high idle.

Has this only just happened? Had you done any work on the bike before it started doing this?

If it's not the choke then check if there's any slack in your throttle cable. There is an adjuster at the handlebar end . Undo the lock ring and adjust the cable so that there is a small amount of slack in it. Don't forget to re tighten the locking ring.

If that doesn't work follow the route of the throttle cable to make sure it's free to move and is not getting snagged on a bracket or something.
