I guess this will be happening to bikes as well but....
I booked a time this morning to have my rust bucket tested and turned up 10 mins late (not my fault for a change) but was told because of the 'computerised MOT test' I would have to wait another hour as he had started another car in my absence.
The tester seemed a bit peeved anyway but did explain later that including the paperwork etc it now takes 60 mins to test a car following a computer programme that leaves very little room for allowances.
It should of been explained to me at the time of booking (but wasnt) that missing the appointment time by more than a few mins can mean missing the slot and not getting tested that day if the garage is busy.
Ho Humm...I boosted the local economy by going and having a greasy breakfast in a nearby cafe before collecting my fail certificate - Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!
I think its a government initiative to ensure a consistant standard of MOT test but, (I suspect) mixed in with a bit of 'big brother' watch so they know exactly when our vehicles are out of test....
But, lets face it if it keeps unsafe vehicles off the road then its a good step and lets not forget - if your test runs out - as far as I'm aware - you are not insured either !!!
Yorkie - It failed on rear tyres (on the limit) and the good old drive shaft boot split - LOL - nice to know the same old fails are still there!!!
Mood: My Jota goes rumpety rump! & I have my wife exactly where she wants me!
I had both my bike MOT`d on the same day last year and it was the new "puter" system, and had no problems. The comments about timming etc sound like BS to me!
From what i've heard i'm supprised they let you have a test on the same day. I've heard quite a few people who have had to go home and re book on another day cos they were late.
