Been reading through this site:-

,and quite interesting it is too and came across this statement,anyone else heard about it?
"If you could fit a 1000SS/M crank into a 998/999R you would get 1215cc. Cool! Might need some custom Carillos for that."

I think the operative phrase is "if you could", otherwise someone would've done it by now, although I believe that both Sigma Performance and JHP have gone to 1080.
