Want an open clutch cover and wondered what i need and how much to fit ( can fit myself if its easy)
the clutch cover is pretty basic, just the design
do i need a pressure plate to make it red ?
and are the stainless springs hard to fit.

oh and what happends if you get caught in a heavy shower ?

It's easy to fit the cover ... about 6 bolts, I seem to remember

Re the red pressure plate ... unless you are a whizz with a crayon, then you will need to fit a new one. Scan the internet for the best deal. Again they are easy to fit, but there is a right was and wrong way. Also try and buy a pressure plate with the bearing already fitted ...cos they are arse to remove ...

Stainless springs are a piece of **** ....

As for raining ... you ride when it rains !!!!!

Fitting is quite easy as long as you are OK with basic tools.

Loads of clutch covers in the dealers and on E-bay. These will just replace the steel grey cover that is currently fitted. Choice of design is a personal thing. Polished or coloured Ally, carbon fibre, cut away style or solid. Many will say that you need an ally cover to give protection if the bike goes down on the right side. I tend to go for a cut away carbon cover and take the risk.

If you go for a cut away cover then it would be good to fit a pressure plate. These are Ally and anodised in Red, Blue, Gold, Silver, Black etc.

You can fit stainless springs, but, I cleaned mine with clutch and brake cleaner then painted them with a £1.99 can of satin black paint from the car shop.

As for being caught in the rain, don't think this really matters. Water is either spun off or evaporates with the heat when the clutch is used.

My solution.

Carbon cover and 30 mins with a dremel. Ducati Performace red pressure plate. Springs painted in satin black spray paint from local car shop. Full cost about £125 ish, look and sound .... priceless.

Nothing else needed, no fancy stainless bolts or caps etc.

Yes i ride in the wet, at the moment the 749 is my only transport LOL.
thats untill i can get me a little moped the whizz to work on.

As an experiment I painted my existing pressure plate. it will do until I get an anodised one.

Mate,you can fit it yourself,....its a doddle,...honestly.
You only need 5mm and 4mm Allen keys.(T handled preferably)

That looks alright,...I did the same on my Multistrudel.
I painted the plate matt black and used red cup washers.

Not a very good pic I'm afraid, but I have a SpeedtMoto titanium cover, and red pressure plate, red caps and stainless springs. All from our Nelly at Cornerspeed.

Fitted myself, and apart from a few super-tight bolts, no problem.
