Beginners guide to repairing/painting

Can anyone point me to any websites that show a step-by-step guide (pref with pictures) to repairing damaged parts (a petrol tank in my case) and basic painting.

I bought a damaged tank (big dent in the side) on ebay for 99p so I'm not fussed if I ruin it in the process but would just like to learn another skill.

thank you muchly.

Chi

a font of wisdom as ever Frank - but only helps if you know what you are doing!

Alternatively, if anyone fancies an afternoon in East London to be my "automotive repair Yoda", I could feed and water you!

If you fancy a trip down to 7Oaks I should be able to do it with you one weekend. I have the air tools to sort out the filler, etc and a spary gun

Spend another £8.57 at Amazon.com and get this here book:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...198946-1751002

I got one a couple of years ago, and although it's American it is a very thorough reference work for body repairs, paint preparation and spraying.

thanks for the offer chris - I have all the gear but no idea!

Good tip on the book Jools. Will have to get one of those for the library.

I will be enlisting the help of the donut-muncher (who is as inept as me) so we can share the blame.
