I am considering the 57mm exhaust upgrade kit but it is made for the 999/999S. I have been informed that apart from the ecu the rest of the kit will fit the 749 fine, as long as it has the new swinging arm.
Does anyone know if the actual physical size of the engines differ or is it just the bore/stroke, just in case the 999 motor was taller or shorter than the 749 then the exhaust manifolds would not line up.
The 57mm system will physically fit no problem, external differnces on the motors are so negligable that it will make no difference.
But unless you have the R variant of the 749 then the best performance gains are from the 54mm. it gives just about the same top end but the peak power is lower, so easier to get to and use.
Good luck and fit a PC3 or you'll have plenty of fuelling issues.
748RS race bike (well, 853 but who\'s counting!) 999S road bike,
This kit contains all the 57mm pipework to convert the assymetric system to a full system with the new flattened pipework and it also includes the rear part of the Termignoni box, carbon guard, race filters and a 999/999S ecu, all for £950, the best price that I have so far is £820 ( Motorapido ) but my local dealer will beat that when I go in.
Obviously the ecu will only fit the 999/999S but as they are well over £600 for the ecu alone someone will be interested in a non coded/unused race ecu for a quarter to a third of that price especially if they have a Leo Vinci or Racefit etc exhaust.
