carb \'heater\' lines
You'll get a few dribbles of oil but there's certainly no need to drain the whole system. Just support the two lines coming from the cooler and plug the holes in the float bowls with small rags until you get carbs out. Then tip the remaining (small) quantity of oil out.

Thanks Zimbo....and frank.
After a quick chat with one of the guys in ducati glagow I've a few more tips to try.
I'm happy to attempt all of this but dont want to do irreversible damage to anything.
In the meantime I've been out on my 916....what a fantastic sunday afternoon its been here!
regards
D.
