Differences in site set-up

Just wanted to post about the differences in the set ups we can now use....

I am using DSC and have got the message board looking a little like it used to. Any links posted are very clear and shown in blue.

dave w is using windows xp silver, and his board just shows in plain white with black text.... any links added to a thread are not clear at all.... consequently, he has just taken abuse from our dear friend cause a link wasn't clear !

So, before 'anyone' else wants to call someone a tw*t because they don't appear to be able to see a link.... try and remember that they may be on a different setting and the link may not be that clear !!!

I'm using the windows xp silver option as well... makes it look slightly less conspicuous when anyone comes round behind me....

I've changed the set up slightly to always show links as underlines (as they should be !!) and when hovering the mouse over the link, it will turn into a bold typeface.

If anyone finds this causes problems, please let me know - equally if it doesn't help let me know!

Eamonn.

Another detail that seems to be different. When using "Today's Posts" to browse the site, you used to be able to tell the difference between which post you've already read and which were new. There doesn't seem to be a distinction anymore. Can this be changed?

Yes Felix - the colour of the link is now different depending on whether you have visited or not.

If the link is blue, you have never looked at the thread

If the link is black, you have looked at the thread at some time (i.e. the page is in your cache area)

If you see dots, it means there are new postings since your last visit regardless of whether you have looked at the thread before or not.

OK

PS If anyone has a monochrome monitor, I guess its all perfectly clear

Not sure I'm too keen on the links going bold when I hover over them but I can live with it

On another note, is anybody having problems receiving "notification email on reply"? I've not had any emails at all yet.

Emails from the website are not working yet - these will start once the domain name is transferred over. It's halfway there now, so shouldn't be too long......

What dots? I see no dots, only the ones inside the squares on the L.H.S. Incidently what do the red symbols mean which are sometimes shown here and any other symbols?
