o rings in horizontal base gskt

i have searched all the pics and anglo/italian translation,but could anyone help,
is there an o ring in the base gasket on the horizontal barrel of a 583,
or does anyone have a parts breakdown pic or manual they coulddirect me too

Hi Dave you should have phoned me if you had my number.

Between barrel and crankcase on the horiz pot:- No 'O' ring, there is between head and barrel.

On the vert pot you can see the shallow recess in the crankcase to accept an 'O' ring.
Don't bother with the base gaskets, you can get the squish up a tad more.

thanks mate,i havent got your number and i know you are busy with the beast ,hope it started ok,just semi rebuilding sarahs old rattler engine,with second hand parts ,may give it a run at mallory on friday i will get your number then if its ok

Its back together now, fired it up this evening. Put it in the van so that I can try it on a huge carpark, not too far from me tomorrow. See you at Mallory Dave.

I may bring the 749 along to give it a run as well.

excellent phil,be good to see the 749 going,but dont do any hairpin stunts on it,got mine fired uptoday eerily quiet for a second hand bitza engine,ill be taking the spare good engine just in case!!!!!!

Carpark job never happened, apparently there is a group on, Take That or similar, for 3 fkin nights. So its Mallory at the deep end.
