I was always under the impression ( but probably incorrectly ) that you were okay on 12 points BUT it is the 13th point that gets you the ban, so going on my thinking, if you keep your nose clean until one lot of points comes off and don't get any more, you should be okay !!

I hope for your sakes that that this is the case... Fingers crossed !

The Police can't simply note your reg down, as a mistake could be made. Evidence is needed to prove it was you, like a photo. So a reg number written on paper is not enough, it would not stand up in court especially if you can prove you were 100 miles away at the time. If they do not have a picture then tell them to sing. They will be on dodgy ground even if they have a picture if you can prove you were elsewhere, ask to see the photo, no photo = no evidence.

I have travelled over the Thelwall viaduct (40 mph roadworks) doing 50+ mph cameras facing, not had a NIP yet.

Bad advice, especially as it is flawed.

Working through it.....

"The Police can't simply note your reg down, as a mistake could be made. Evidence is needed to prove it was you, like a photo. "

Yes they can,and do. I can only state with certainty for Notts, but every vehicle caught on camera by a roadside laser van has it's number written down on a paper log aswell as being on the photo. It is up to your defence to prove a mistake is made, a photo would just add to the evidence.

"So a reg number written on paper is not enough, it would not stand up in court especially if you can prove you were 100 miles away at the time. "

Yes it will, been there, done that & won numerous times. You would need to prove where you were & beware of using dodgy alibis, they can be and are, checked. Even got a bloke sent down for Dangerous Driving when he knocked a lad off his moped & drove off but his number was written down on a bit of paper by a bloke following the moped. The paper was admitted as evidence in Court.

"If they do not have a picture then tell them to sing. They will be on dodgy ground even if they have a picture if you can prove you were elsewhere, ask to see the photo, no photo = no evidence"

This is all well and good, but she was there! The punishment for making up a false story & getting caught leaves you with a criminal conviction which can have adverse implications in many professions.

"I have travelled over the Thelwall viaduct (40 mph roadworks) doing 50+ mph cameras facing, not had a NIP yet. "

Your point being????? The Thelwall Viaduct uses fixed unmanned cameras - no one there to look at your plate as you go past. This was a van with operators in it whose heads are capable of turning & taking a look.

Once again, I hope that the Kerb Rats didn't zap Lily.

Prison and a long strech I expect. 12 points, danger to animals and children, lock the doors, I say.
