Don't bother with that...I took my hugger off and fitted a shock guard.

To be fair...I have seen some shock guards that look a bit of a state...but its the same with a hugger...there are different types out there so look around before deciding.
Would it be a no no to cut the chain guard off the hugger and just fit that, or would somebody want to swap bearing in mind it's not mint, it's worn through where the dimple is and the previous owner ran with it loose so the mounting holes are a bit large.
After that description it sounds like a piece of junk.
you'll need a chain guard to keep the hugger in place. Cut off the chain guard and the hugger will have nothing to bolt to.
I think a chain guard is an MOT requirement too.
The hugger stops more than just the rain. Stones and road debris in general can cause damage. I think Casoli do some of the better looking versions. Painted one too.
