Help

Ok folks I could do with some help. I am partway though fitting the big bore kit and it seems that there is some conflicting information. The kit comes with Italian instructions and shows two different piston ring arrangements. The bottom oil control ring in the kit is the U-FLEX type which has the spring fitted on the outside which indicate that the V65 arrangement is the one to use, but the other two rings shown in this arrangement are the Dykes profile type. The rings that came in the in the kit are one Dykes profile and one Keystone. The other arrangement (V50) in the instructions shows a stepped ring in the middle position (this does not look the same as the keystone one in the kit) and Dykes profile in the top position.
So I looked in the good old Haynes manual for some clarification. No such look as this shows the keystone in the top position but also upside down if the marks on the rings are anything to go by.
The keystone rings have the word top on them and this would put the widest part of the ring at the top. The Dykes profile has the word ken on it but does not appear to have much if any profile (Checked with a straight edge)
So does anyone know which way they are supposed to be fitted?

Hi there,

You dont say where you are located so I can only give a general answer...

I DONT KNOW !!! - lol - sorry but at least I know someone who might.

Check the treads for the big bore suppliers - they 'might' help out

However, my first suggestion would be be to ring Nelly at:

If he does not know I'll eat my Diablos -

Good luck - Frank
