Duty 10%
VAT 17.5%
Registration Fee - Can't remember about £90 I think
SVA £70
You may need to acquire a model report as well for the SVA, should be fairly straightforward to convert a bike (cars are a nightmare..)

Info on importing here

http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/motorcyc...ngvehicles.htm

and here

When I mean cost, an idea as to how much it would cost to make it road legal in the UK (I understand there is an SVA that the bike would have to go through etc...).

Cheers

Paul

When you say importing you mean from outside the EU or from a EU country??

Unless there is very different from here you just need to pay VAT in the UK and the small stuff about registering the bike.
No duty.
And mind that you'll only pay VAT there, so you'll buy it without VAT from the other EU country.

I know a place with great prices on import bikes, let me know if you're interested. (i have no interest there, but i was also seriously consifering getting an import bike)

Ducnow's made a good point, the SVA and duty are only required when importing from outside the EU.

VAT is usually paid at source, although try to find somewhere that charges lower taxes than the UK......

Yes, usually VAT is payed at source but if it's about vehicles (because you need to register them, etc..) then VAT is payed in the country of destiny.
And don't be fooled by dealers from other countrys when they say you have to pay VAT to them.
