Vans..... again...

I know there was a thread about vans a while back but has anyone got any feedback on the VW transporter?

Not the older one as I used ot have on of those, but hoping someone has one or a friend with one that can tell me what the newere ones are like to live with.

Drove one on Friday and seemed quite impressive, even for the basic model. I know they do a 130 and a 173 bhp version so just looking for some reports.

I used to have one of the older ones converted to a camper and it was great!

they do a good range of engines etc and seem to be pretty good on mpg etc.

Interested if they have variable servicing like the golf and if they have any common faults to look at.

the 174 looks pretty good but not too cheap and why oh why are they all white!!!!

On a comparision with the Vito does anyone have any comments?

We have some where nI work and the only thing I dont like about them is that you have to lean forward to reach the gear lever, its to far forward and to low so on a lon run you might get back ache!

??

Really?

The one i drove had a dash mounted gear stick and tbh apart from the concrete slab seats it was pretty similar to driving the golf.

in all 7 of my mates have busses and one has a vito
the Vw was always the better bus
just look on www.mobile.de
for a insite into what is avalible over the other side of the water
the new 173 motor is very good but ive heard its a little loud in the driver seat, the one to go for its the173+auto gearbox
ive got a t4 with 110 bhp plus the auto box and its great, just eats miles

My mate bought the 173bhp model with everything on it inc heated seats and electric opening side door
£26,000 price tag though
But it drives just like a car but bit out of my price range for a van

John

Try enterprise as we get all our vans from them and they always have tie down points
