no debris in the tank........

after changing the fuel filter, spark plugs & leads on my 1999 900SS because of its erractic hesitation during hard take-offs from the line.......
I'm back to the original symptom, (which I had forgotten about) when this problem initially & gradually started off about 2 months ago....
it started off by ONLY giving me that nasty hesitation when my petrol was almost out......then grew to include happening at anytime.....but now its back to its initial stage..so the question is:
What can be causing this hesitation when the petrol level is low in the tank?
thanks for any input
joe

currently it only happens after the low fuel light comes on.
Prior to changing my plugs & wires it would happen at any time after a good scream off the line.
thanks

this may be a long shot -theres a connector below the tank four wires coming out of the tank somehow the low level light supply maybe interfering with the power supply to the pump?its the only thing that i can think of that connects the pump and low level light-otherwise an intermittent fault like you have could be a plethora of things- ignoring the fact it only happens when the light comes on -coils, leaky manifolds, carbs not set up correctly(mixture, balance, throttle valves, cables not operating correctly, blocked jets)timing advancing correctly but i think you may have checked the obvious ones of this list

Have you checked the fuel tank breather? Its a pretty common fault for them to block up.

As keefy says, check the breather, also check the hoses between the fuel pump and the tap inside the tank. If there's a split then it could be letting air in.

If it's a carbed model then it sounds liek it needs the carbs cleaning, but I can't help with FI as it's all a but modrun for me like......

Cheers,

Ali
