SPAM telephone calls....aaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhh!

Is it me or do these random calls from 'space design kitchens' or 'telewest communications' seem to be getting more and more frequent...and now beyond a joke?

I work from home, and during the day I must receive 3 or 4 calls from such companies trying to flog me stuff or telling me I can save money by switching to them....ITS DRIVING BE FRIGGIN BONKERS.

Whats worse is that it seems to be the same 6 or 7 companies calling over and over again, and despite asking to be removed from there list/database...or to speak to someone who can do that...they just hang-up on me!!!!

BARSTEWARDS

So....I do seem to remember ages ago reading about a way of removing your name/details from such databases...from what I remember you had to pay for this 'privalege'...but I would do this at the moment as its getting beyong a joke.

Any one got any ideas...before I agree to buying one of these kitchens...wait for the guy to come and fit it...and then torture him until he sorts it out!!!

Go to http://www.tpsonline.org.uk

Takes about 3 weeks to activate then lots of calls dissappear !

PS there's also one for faxes at the same website.

There is something called "Telephone Preference Register" or similar:

http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

I think you fill in an online form then, after a week or so, the calls start to dry up. Its not foolproof, but it makes a considerable difference

I registered a while back. Its stopped them dead apart from the taped american voice ones telling me i've won a holiday and to press 9 to hear more.

OK...registered on both the TPS calls and the silent calls register.

When I get a call from an automated voice, I will take the details of whom it is from, and then take action on those also....

We shall see!!!

Had these with Barclaycard a few months ago, and because I'm a "customer" it wasn't a sales call but a "customer care" call.

Told them if I got another call I'd take my business elsewhere within 24 hours of the call, with no second chance or excuses.

Not heard a thing from them since.

I registered with BT and now I get very few.
The only one I do get is a American recorded message telling me I've won a holiday. I believe this is the one that asks you to press '9' and then connects you premium rate. Be aware of this one.

Since placing an add in MCn to Sell mt Aprilia RSV R I`ve had about 6 calls from companies telling me they have over 60 people on their books willing to pay full list price for my bike and if I register with them, for between £600 to £100, they will put these people in touch with me to buy my bike.

I tried one of these firms many years ago when selling a car and never even had one call, even when (as a joke) I dropped the price from 7K to 1K.

There just a bloody rip off.!!!!!!

Registered with TPS for fax and phone and mobile - quite good but i am still getting the silent ones and the premium offers and holiday one. Think it's cos they are outside the UK. I hate them I have to say
