Jon - I am running semi-synth, as for dragging - it would be the opposite wouldn't it - ie the clutch wouldn't engage fully, not be struggling to disengage?

Got me confused now!! My way of thinking is that with too many friction plates, there would be no room for them to seperate. TRhe clutch would'nt engage because it would 'nt disengage

I was refering to the preloading of the springs, not the additional plates. Besides, the additional plate is just a blank one at the rear to pack them all out.

I've just had a re-think, and now know where you are coming from. I think I might have heard somewhere that SS springs are a lot stiffer?

I think you mite be better off sticking new plates in now if you have been using them since the start of the session with the races you’ve done and all the practise/trackdays. The plates have probably had it. If it has been working fine then plates it is.

I would change them now for your racing and keep the ones you’ve got as spares.

I know that’s not the most cost effective way but you can’t go out at Donnie with a slipping clutch,

I think you have to have a fiction plate at the back of the clutch to build off, or is that just the dry ones
