For some reason the server kept 'hanging up' yesterday, TP was like the Dutch boy with his finger in a dyke, I have to say he did not complain......

As for going slow most of the time, I have not noticed a drop in performance in opening pages and moving around the site, but then again my b/band is rather fast anyway.

Paul, can you pin point when you're having these issues, and is it certain pages? Also, on any of the threads are any of the avatars animated? Are there attachments or images on these pages? Last, dial up or b/band?

By the way, nice to see you Saturday.

Mark.

Hi Flanks, ah so that was you! Sorry mate, i would have come and chatted if i'd realised! Everyone looked a bit hassled with the weather etc so i didnt hang around too much!

As regards the site, both here and at home (both on broadband, work very much faster than home) the site is just generally very slow sometimes (not always), opening the initial screen and threads no matter if they have animated giffs or not. I've had the "too many connects" message a few times over the past few weeks.

Both PC's are running XP and IE6 i think.

The "too many connects" is our server/isp playing up, which normally means we've exceeded our bandwidth, and the hampster falls over dead..... This also could be effecting the performance of the site.

Aye, twaz me who said hi!

I'll have a chat with Eamonn about this, if Tony has not already.

Aye, twaz me who said hi!

I'll have a chat with Eamonn about this, if Tony has not already.

The issue is the SQL DB not releasing connections which consumes memory (slows the server) and we eventually run out of connections.

I haven't had a chance to discuss it with Eamonn and I'll be unavailable for most of the day, tonight until the morning so Mark, can you have a word with him. He knows what the issue is but will likely not be aware of its increased frequency yesterday.

I bounced the DB 4 times yesterday.
