I had my photograph in a local paper with John Inman when I was 6 yrs!

I shared a race paddock with Barry Sheen-we were next to him actually-both in Transit Vans-his was old and battered, ours was hired. This would have been 1971 at Croft, he was riding his 125cc Suzuki twin GP bike-he won of course-and we crashed.................

In the late 70's i got caught climbing over the back wall of number 10 Downing Street. I was drunk and the police didn't believe i was trying to visit my Uncle Jim Callaghan. This was in the days when you could actually walk up Downing Street before big security measures.

In my days as a football holigan (in the mid 70's) i was on TV being dragged out of the crowd by the police after a big fight. Big close up view on TV. My family were less than impressed. This is not a claim to fame i am proud of, bit of a stupid knob when i was young.

Better claim to fame was myself & partner winning Business of the Decade in the Greater Manchester area, as we were originally sponsored by the Princes Youth Business Trust, and meeting Prince Charles. Then being able to act as an advisor to a few other new starters.

A few years ago OK many years ago I was in a Security Team that was hired to guard the contents within the largest Tent in Europe. It held all the Major Companies of Britain's top brands and products, this was to celebrate the Queens Silver Jubilee. It was held in Hyde Park, London. After my shift had finished I went for my usual morning run of about 5/6 miles . I found that I was closing in on a group of runners, although only one looked like he had any fitness.
As I passed them one of the guys asked if I new where I was and did I now this place, I replied I did and could I help.
He wanted to find the Dorchester Hotel in Park Lane so I told him to get across to the other side of the Park and turn left down Potten Row that will lead you onto Park Lane the hotel being just across the road, still not sure of this imfo he asks me if I could lead his team there, looking at these guys I thought I could do them a favour as they all looked knacked. I led of at my normal pace only to be asked fairly soon if I could drop the pace a bit as this guy was wearing "leaded" shoes and the other lot throwing up along the way
The one condition I agreed to do this was to get this guys autograph when we arrived at the Dorchester for I did immedietly realise who this guy was, much to my surprise. The out rider's that were running with him were his BG boys(bodyguards) When we finally arrived at the hotel sure enough he got pen and paper and gave me his autograph and I was chuffed as a chuffer's chuffer. it was Mohamed Ali
Other events have been two entries into the Guiness Book of Records. 4D

err, mostly 'equestrian'...

Judged in front of the Queen (class was held up, whilst we waited for her to come down from the castle) at Royal Windsor Horse show, in the main ring.
Got instructed to visit Royal Box after, for coffee to discuss merits of exhibits! - nice lady to chat to

Trod on Prince Phillips foot in the 80's, when coming out of a marquee, at same show.

Also, pushed Peter Gabriel off his pony during a gymkhana race, when at pony club in the early 70's

Non horsey:

Cadged a lift with our service engineer (when I worked in the glazing trade) to see a mega huge conservatory we had done 2 years previously, where he was going to fix a door handle.
Couldnt believe my luck, as the owner was home, along with his brothers, who were visiting - managed to get ALL the Bee-Gees autographs, and a photo of moi with them too!!!

I had the pleasure of being present at the original announcement of the ceasefire of Northern Ireland in 1995.

We were responsible for flying the then Northern Ireland Secretary Sir Patrick Mayhew over the provence to visit all the patrol bases and outlying police stations and meetings with Sein Fein representatives and government officials, doing all the leg work to make the ceasefire a success.

I had an excellent photo taken with him at the border near a village called Kiltirk with Clones the Southern Ireland village where Barry McGuigan is from in the background.

The 2 of us are shaking hands over a border crossing point which was later destroyed as a gesture of goodwill in the steps towards the ceasefire. The photo takes pride of place beside my medals.
