I am for the first time in twenty five years riding through the winter, mainly because of the IAM training that I am doing.

Previously I have put my bike away from Mid October to April and have not had to combat the ravages of winter and have no real experience of preventative maintenance to combat grit, salt and other winter nastys.

I have ordered some spray called ACF50 to start with but I wondered does anyone protect the bottom of the forks or any other areas with clear plastic, is it practical and where can I get it.

hi, i used to have some stuff for my mountain bike called "frame saver" - self adhesive, quite thick clear plastic strip. Good but leaves a heavy goo behind - does no damage but can be a pain to get off.

Think i still have some somewhere - I'll look it up

Just spray the whole bike with duck oil & when you clean it if ever spray it again it works.

Ive got some of the Scottoiler F365 stuff to spray on when i clean it next had some good reviews for working well

We will see how well after winter

what about the seat

Even pledge will work as it leaves a wax coating on all parts and is water based so washes off with the muck. Polish where you can see and leave where you can't.

Thats up to you m8 but it would stop them rusting/rotting.:P
