Skype question Far East

Hello,

Just been reading abit about Skype and the easy of access to phone people via the computer. I see some members have/use this service.

I would like to phone Indonesia (landlines/mobiles)

if you use Skype do you use it often? and if so have you had any problems phoning somebody in the Far East?

regards

Not sure on the availabilty of BroadBAnd connections in the FE or Indonesia though, so I am probably talking rubbish !

Hope you are well mate, Matt said he had a chat !

Hello Dseered

Thanks mate I know ideally it would be better to have both users on a computer, problem is the extended family back home don't even have a computer, and in some cases no landline. Although have access to wartel's (internet cafe's) which now have Broadband in the cities.

Just looking into the possibilities other than phone cards.

thanks again.

Hi steve, I use skipe often with my friends in Italy at night..it is great.. but only PC - no phones -
The quality is great, we teleconference in three or four and exchange files or photo at the same time we are talking with each other. Still, PC to PC, and everyone in broadband.
Dunno about Indonesia.. but if it works in Italy..works everywhere!!

Hello Fabio,

Thanks for the information, looks impressive if everybody involved is compatible, would save me trips down the local shops early morning to buy a phone card.

Dseered will look in the price difference. thanks mate

Hope you all had a great Christmas.

i use skype everyday for work and phone other skype users as well as landlines and mobiles, there is a cost for each call publised on their site, so far the only calls that have not worked out cheaper are to mobile phones in this country.

Call quality is often better than BT but sometimes is worse, I always start with it but have resorted to the landline for some important calls if it starts dodgy.

The Skype credit lasts for ages but if you dont use it all it does expire.

I use Skype all the time to call from Malaysia and Brunei. On broadband it is usually clearer than the phone and it even works sometimes on a very slow dial-up from the rig in Brunei, so it should be fine with a reasonable dial-up rate in Indonesia.
