Tha Tamiya Option ( for those that can\'t afford Minichamps!)

Here's some pics of the newly released Tamiya Desmosedici in 1/12th scale.
I picked mine up at a show, costs £25.

http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...12&uid=4339047

I built mine straight from the instructions, no added detail, and it was mainly painted with Tamiya acrylics. It's a real stunner, way nicer than Minichamps, and cheaper too!
You can see it next to the JR gixxer I bought for hubbies birthday in one of the photos.

Hope you like it!
Jen.

If you look on the net it is possible to obtain special upgrade parts that take the detail much higher. Often crop up on e-bay.

Nice job, very well put together.
Bought mine from Ebay. Came from Hong Kong but still only £18 including carraige.
I tried to lacquer the panels but used the wrong type of lacquer and it re-acted with the decals and they shunk and curled up. I was gutted.

Col, I have some decals left over you can have if you like. Not a whole set obviously but most of the main ones are there. You can also e mail Tamiya and ask for a replacement decal sheet if you'd prefer.

The upgrade parts were on show at the show hwere I bought the kit. They aren't really any more detailed than the kit parts. What makes them worth having is that the matel finish on the parts is very well represented. I got around it by using special paints and adhesive metal foils.

Thanks Jen,
I have emailed Tamiya.
You have inspired me to carry on with it.

I'm working a few days a week up in Leeds at the moment here and I noticed a shop in the city centre that has some Minichamps going for under £20 - one of them was the Bostrom 998 I think. I'll get the name and number of the shop if anyone is interested.
