I've been amused by the UK's Commonwealth games coverage, especially the hype around England winning medals in the pool. All congratulations go to the athletes for being at the peak of their game, but headlines about beating the Aussies in their own backyard etc etc seem to be a little off the mark.

Looks like Australia has roughly double the amount of medals of 2nd placed England, and Gold's are nearly 3 times the amount.

Erm...dunno I'm afraid

I've been concentrating on the cycling and MTB really, where our athletes are world-class, never mind national.

Good to see.

Great result for Liam and Oli but WTF happened to Kabush?? he should have been up there for a medal after last years World Cup results. The mens pursuit team was looking even more impressive, if BC can continue this into 08 we'll win even more cycling medals.

Womens MTB was, how shall i say, not quite world class quality??

Is that because they have to keep stopping to get the mud off their legs, and maybe fix their hair for the cameras?

(expect Lily to put me right soon)

Possibly although if it included downhill its hardly a girlie look needed Actually its because our 2 best riders including our national champ AFAIK didn't get full funding so weren't there!, politics in sport, eh? don't I love it
