Brooklands - this Sat (13th May) SOUNDS ON SATURDAY AT BROOKLANDS MUSEUM ON SATURDAY 13TH MAY 2006 Fancy a day out? Then try this event if you're in the area or like a bit of noise/old bikes. EVENT PROGRAMME 2 00 pm Join us to inspect the 25 unique racing machines which we have assembled in the historic Brooklands paddock to provide the entertainment later in the afternoon and evening. 4 00 pm Start of the 25 individual bike presentations. There will be a detailed commentary on the public address covering each machine. The bike will then be started and paraded around the Jackson Circuit of the museum. It will allow you to experience at close quarters the sounds and smells of each unique piece of machinery. At the end of each parade the bike will be noise tested by an ACU noise tester. The results will be recorded and each machine issued with a certificate. There will be a 15 minute break in the proceedings at 5 00 pm during which there will be an interview/ event. 6 30 pm Barbeque break. A chance to refuel the machines and the inner man 7 30 pm Shoot out of the noisiest 5 bikes in reverse order. A chance for you to test your ear against the noise meter. Each bike will be paraded around the Jackson Circuit in reverse order quietest first. 7 55 pm The quietest bike in the event will then be paraded to allow a contrast 8 00 pm The ‘Grande Finale’ all the bikes will be started in turn until we have all 25 machines parading around the Jackson Circuit. They will then be lined up on a mock starting line to simulate a race start and subject to the noise testing equipment surviving the noise an overall measurement of the line up taken. 8 15 pm A further chance to enjoy the barbeque and beverages on offer. Inspect the complete list of noise test results. Chat to some of the riders and owners in the paddock. Enjoy the sounds of some good music for the rest of the evening.
