My 996 has a DP rear hugger, fitted using just the two bolts as I didn't want to drill the extra hole in the swinging arm.

While in France last weekend it lost the rear bolt and ended up being pretty much only held on by the rear brake hose as the front bolt was also nearly out !!

Guess who's going to be drilling the third (bolt) hole now...

p.s. yes I do maintain my bike, and do check it at the end of every ride. This was after 1200 miles over 3 days of serious riding.

Its an easy job, the swing arm is thick and can be drilled and tapped without any problems, mine is 5mm and all is well, never flaps or comes lose.

Mine was drilled and now seems fine. I like the shape as well with the little lip bent up on the end.

Yeah, that little lip stops it from digging into the tyre when all the bolts fall out !!

I had only the two bolts holding a dp hugger on my 748. When the top bolt came out it moved so much that it ended up touching the underside of the exhaust and burnt an 1" x 2" hole in the hugger.
