Ducati Sporting Club UK > General > Idle Chat > Virus Warning (again!)

There's a series of email messages doing the rounds that gives the impression of coming from the administrators of the website. Typically the email informs you of problems with your email account and includes an attachment with a virus embedded.

If you get one of these, just delete it!

Example messages are:

Dear user, the management of DucatiSportingClub.com mailing system wants to let you know that,

Your e-mail account has been temporary disabled because of unauthorized access.

For details see the attached file....

Hello user of Ducatisportingclub.com e-mail server,

Our main mailing server will be temporary unavaible for next two days,
to continue receiving mail in these days you have to configure our free
auto-forwarding service.

For more information see the attached file.

If anyone from the club emails you, check the email address - we do not use webmaster, admin, support, helpdesk, etc. Emails from DSC will be either the persons name, the region name or webteam - anything else should be treated with suspicion

Many free virus progs are available these days and I think a few are mentioned here but just in case someone does not have one...here is a link to the nice free version AVG that works well...

I've had one supposidly from 100% trackdays as they'd had a virus that rifled through their address book.
Also one under the guise of Virgin.net saying they had detected a virus from me and I was to click on a link etc. etc.

Basic rule is: if your not expecting it or know who it's from then delete it.

100% seem to have been hacked.

I have had six messages supposedly from their mailing list today - all have seemingly innocuous attachments that presumably contain viruses.

Anyone else on their mailing list seeing the same thing?

Yes i had twelve of the things this morning all caught by Norton and all containing this

'W32.Sober.O@mm'

All from various sources i might add it seemed pointless to start a new thread so please check your virus checker is up to date and is scanning your emails
