The 916 motor is absolutely fantastic and makes the bike MUCH easier to ride as is very forgiving if you find yourself in the wrong gear.

The 996 motor feels lumpy and much more mechanical at anything below 5000RPM. But wind the bugg3r up and you'll never take the grin off your face. Where the 916 starts to run out of puff the 996 just keeps pulling, trying to wrench the bars out of your arms and will stay right beside a similar 999.

It's a beast round town though as first gear is really tall so the old left hand get's used a lot (insert your own jokes ).

Out on the open road is where it belongs but beware. With the extra power there is extra speed although you may not realise it until it's time to slow down (in my experience )

If possible keep the 916 for the track and the 996 for the road which is what I've done and I would't fancy tracking the 996 either!

Mark
