Marc Márquez and the Ducati Lenovo Team win the first-ever Sprint at Goiânia. Bagnaia eighth

The Ducati Lenovo Team came out victorious in the second Sprint of the season with Marc Márquez, who put together a scintillating performance at the Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia – Ayrton Senna. Francesco Bagnaia finished the race in eighth place.

Márquez, after a battle with Quartararo in the early stages, began the chase on then-leader Di Giannantonio. With three laps left, Marc took the race lead and successfully defended it up to the flag. Bagnaia got off to a good start from the fourth row as he made up three positions on the opening lap and battled for seventh place until the end.

The Ducati Lenovo Team will be back in action tomorrow at 10:40 local time (GMT -3) for the warm up, which will be followed by the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Grand Prix of Brazil, to be contested over 31 laps from 15:00.

Marc Márquez (#93 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 1st
“The goal was to stay with Diggia from the beginning, but the battle with Quartararo kind of ruined my plans a bit. At some point in the race, I felt better and, without putting any excessive pressure on myself, I gave it a shot, knowing that second place would have still been a good result. I managed to ride well and surely the two-week break helped me to make a step forward, even though I still feel a bit stiff on the bike. We'll make some small adjustments tomorrow and try to be at the front once again.”

Francesco Bagnaia (#63 Ducati Lenovo Team) – 8th
“Unfortunately, the crash in qualifying was the only real limitation. Starting from eleventh place when the bike could technically allow you to race at the front is a real shame, as I think we had the potential to battle for the podium. In the race, however, I didn't manage to be incisive or to overtake, and I eventually got stuck behind Alex (Márquez). Tomorrow's race will be a long one and the key factor will be front-tyre wear. I have to try to make my way up into the top five or six in the opening laps and then manage the tyres. We're among those who have lapped the most with used tyres and we showed a consistent pace throughout the Sprint, so now we just have to wait for the race.”
