| 900ss cracked frame
I have a '98 900ss, never been dropped, FSH, only 10,800 miles on the clock. It has the (common) cracking around the headstock on the two top tubes. I've been advised that a new frame is the preferred option but this is also the most expensive option.
I'd appreciate advice on which way to go.
Is there any likelihood of a goodwill replacement? I've noticed that in the States, they seem to get free replacements for 13 year old bikes, how about here?
Has anyone had a PERMANENT repair with welding? Also suggested was a secondhand 600 frame as these are different and less prone to cracking.
All advice/suggestions will be greatly appreciated apart from "sell it and get a Mille" , as some wag suggested to me a while ago (referring to Honda SP1). |
