Re laquering carbon...best way?

Some of the carbon on the 'ol SP is starting to look a bit milky and marked after 10 years...so was thinking about re-laquering it.

Anyone done this. Is it as straight forward as it sounds...rub it down a bit with some wet and dry and then apply a few coats of clear laquer as with paint?

Thought I would ask first before fooking things up!
