STM do the 48 tooth, which has 48 teeth rather than the original 12. It spreads the load over 4 times the number of surfaces so it wears less quickly.

I have the STM 48 tooth slipper on my 749s. I watched Nelly fit it, and whilst it is not rocket science, you do need some way to hold the clutch on both the original 12 tooth and the 48 tooth when you fit it. The tool locks the outer to the inner with a handle to hold onto. You can use some old plates drilled and screwed together though with a bar attached, if you have some. The STM clutch also needs a tool to fit the pressure plate I think, can't remember now.

Personally, not having the right tools, I'd rather pay a couple of hours labour to have it done.
